About this Park

• REITERATION: (In accordance with the COVID-19 Recovery Framework and until further notice) The maximum number of persons per camping permit is five (5). All other campground procedures and rules apply. All City campsites are closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

*** NOTICE:Following the documentation of 7 Hawaiian green sea turtle nesting sites along Bellows Field Beach Park in 2020, Marine Corps Base Hawai‘i and the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will be closing the campground at Bellows for an approximately 19-week period (beginning Monday, April 19 through September 2, 2021).

As a result of this extended closure, DPR is exploring how to offer more camping opportunities at some of the other City campgrounds.

Weekend day-use of Bellows Beach will continue as regularly allowed, as will military training exercises on the weekdays, though protection measures for identified nesting sites will restrict access to the nesting sites.

Once a nesting site is confirmed, the area surrounding the nest will be cordoned off from human use. Signs will be posted at the public facilities with information about the turtle nesting sites. We encourage everyone to report any disturbing or illegal behavior against the turtles or nests by calling (808) 285-9529 or (808) 257-2123.

Please note: This campground closure may be extended past Labor Day Weekend 2021 (Sept. 3, 2021) should the existence of additional nesting sites be observed. Further updates will be provided as we approach that holiday weekend. Mahalo for your understanding and cooperation.

Bellows Field Beach Park is located on a beautiful stretch of windward beach and holds fifty campsites. It is also a part of an active military training area. Campgrounds are not available before 12 noon on Friday. The park is closed between the hours of 8 p.m and 6 a.m. and no one is allowed to enter. Campers must remain in their designated camping area during those hours. A printed permit is required to camp in this park. All fees are non-refundable.
